Patriot Families, We want to remind you there is an addendum on the March 5th ballot that will affect funding for Pike Road Schools. We encourage you to go vote on March 5th. *Pike Road Schools is not advocating a specific position. We are encouraging participation in and presenting information related to the March 5 referendum on the renewal and continuation of the Montgomery County School Tax.

In preparation for the writing portion of ACAP, we have a writing competition currently happening in C2 and C3. Round 2 was narrative writing and we had some really good essay entries. This week at PRES was full of learning, innovating, creating, and performing. Our music department hosted their performances this week and our theatre department will host theirs next week. (Check stories for dates) We built fine motor skills, problem-solving skills, social-emotional skills, learned how to read maps, researched facts about various animals, learned about equivalent fractions, animal life cycles, parachutes, and celebrated so many accomplishments amongst our learners this week. Makerspace has had some really exciting things happening lately. CK has been weaving self portraits. C1 has been coding with VEX123. C2 Gee’s Bend Quilt Squares are coming along really well. Congratulations Sophia Allshouse! 🍎 Sophia was nominated by her lead learner Mrs. Graydon. Sophia’s teacher, Mrs. Graydon, describes her as kind, caring, and compassionate. She’s got a big heart and truly adds to our classroom culture. In her theatre class, she’s known for taking responsibility, never giving up, and always being ready to rehearse. The Board of Education will hold a Called Board Meeting beginning at 7:00 a.m. March 1, 2024, to conduct regular business. The meeting will be held at the Pike Road Schools Central Office.

The Board of Education will hold its February Board Meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. on February 26, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Pike Road Schools Performing Arts Center located at 9000 Vaughn Road.

🍎Are you coming to our PRES Lunch and Learn about the Alabama Literacy Act⁉️ 🍎Have you heard about the Alabama Literacy Act? ⁉️ 🍎Did you know that your learner may be affected by this law? ⁉️ Our Literacy Specialist, Mrs. Costa will be hosting a Lunch and Learn where we will be educating and informing you about the Alabama Literacy Act. We will have a moderator who will gather all of your questions and we will review those questions during our Q & A time. To best serve everyone, this will be a virtual event that you can tune in to on any digital device wherever you are. We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE any parent of a current or upcoming second or third grader to attend. So tell a friend to tell a friend to tune in to our PRES Alabama Literacy Act Lunch and Learn. 👮‍♀️ A huge shoutout and heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing School Resource Officers! 👮‍♂️ Officer Tea at PRES can be seen walking the school perimeter throughout the day. She will be happy to tell you that it is her job and that those students are her babies. Deputy Goldsmith has only been with our school system for a couple of months but already loves working at PRIS. Corporal Dixon told senior Natalie Pennington he is "enjoying his time at the GW Campus. He also enjoys giving advice to students about going to college and not wanting to grow up too quickly." Our SROs go above and beyond to ensure that our school community remains a safe and welcoming environment for all. We appreciate you!🙏👏
