This weekend is School Resource Officer Day, so today we want to celebrate one of the very best, Corporal Adam Hill!

At PRES, Corporal Hill is so much more than an officer. He’s a smiling face at morning arrival, a steady hand directing traffic, a helper for our little learners heading to K4, and a friend who isn’t afraid to dress like an alien for Halloween or get slimed for a fundraiser!

He helps at dismissal, walks students safely to carpool, and jumps in wherever he’s needed. Our students love him, and our school family is grateful for his willingness to serve with kindness and joy.

PRES is proud to have Corporal Hill!

Pike Road community, let’s walk! Join students and staff on Feb 12 @ 4:00 PM (GW Campus Bus Loop) as we highlight the dangers of excessive energy drink consumption.

We’re walking 8 laps to represent the 8 gallons of energy drinks consumed per person each year.
Come for the cause, stay for the yard games, music, and snacks!

📣 Calling All C2 and C3 Learners! 📣

It’s time for our annual writing competition! We are excited to invite your learner to participate in our 3rd Annual ACAP Preparation Writing Contest. As we prepare learners for the state writing assessment this spring, we want to provide opportunities for them to practice and strengthen their writing skills. Please note that participation is voluntary.

Over the next several weeks, learners will participate in biweekly writing challenges—one for each of the three genres: opinion, narrative, and expository writing.

We will begin with Opinion Writing. Learners will read a prompt, plan their response using the provided graphic organizer, and then write a final copy. Please encourage your learner to type their final draft, as this will be required for ACAP testing. Also, please ensure your learner completes this challenge independently.

Writing prompts and entry details will be sent home soon.

If you have questions, please contact our PRES Literacy Specialist, Mrs. Costa, at rachel.costa@pikeroadschools.org.

We are excited to get our writers writing!

Important Dates:

Opinion Writing: February 2–February 9

Narrative Writing: February 17–February 23

Expository Writing: March 2–March 6

Writing entries will be collected on the last day of each date range listed above.

Patriot Families,
Due to potential icy conditions, we will delay the start of school by 2 hours tomorrow morning. We are mindful of our staff and faculty who commute from outside of the area, and the safety of our young drivers traveling in these conditions. We encourage parents to use their best discretion based on the conditions in their specific area.
Buses will run 2 hours later than usual, and schools will open 2 hours after their regular start time. Please note that breakfast will not be served.

📌 We are continuing to monitor the weather and are staying updated with current EMA and local forecasts. Because many of our teachers and staff travel from outside the Pike Road area, we evaluate conditions across a wide region when making safety decisions.
You will be notified via email, text messages, and phone calls if any changes are made to the school schedules.
